I love this. I know it seems like they're just running in circles. But it's so much more.

First off, let me talk about Lenny a bit. She's a nervous girl. She's just generally anxious and we're discovering the ins and outs of it as we go. But in this video, she's totally free and happy. She's just cutting loose in a way she doesn't do often. She loves running with Bodhi more than she loves most things. So those moments when she really gets lost in it are beautiful.

But there's also Bodhi. He loves going back and forth with his sister. He loves playing with her and he gets lost in it as much as she does.

That's the beautiful thing about this. It's two #dogs lost in a moment of pure bliss and happiness. What's not to love, right?

Hey y'all!

So normally, there'd be a new episode of Hound Opinions today. Life happened and I wasn't able to get an episode together. So it'll be delayed by a week. Look out for it next Thursday.

That said, next week's episode will be the last episode of Season 5 and the pod's going to go on a hiatus for a couple months. This was the longest season yet - 15 episodes! Thanks for being a part of this experiment in podcastery with me!

Demand barking is one of those behaviors I get ask

Demand barking is one of those behaviors I get asked about a lot. What is it? The simplest explanation is that it's when your dog barks at you to ask for or demand something. What that something is could be anything - food, play, affection, attention ... it varies by situation.

The tough part about demand barking is that we often inadvertently reward it. Think about it: Your dog barks at you so you decide to play with them to get them to be quiet. It seems to work until a bit later when your dog barks at you again.

Why did they bark at you again after you played with them? Because last time they barked, you played with them, so they figured that barking worked to get them what they wanted. And you inadvertently taught them that.

So how do you deal with it? That's what this video's all about. The basic idea is that you have to teach them to ask for what they want by essentially not asking for it. I know that's a little confusing, but I clarify in the video.
